The Paper Clip

12 11 2008

For Remembrance Day, our class did a multimedia presentation about how the paper clip became a symbol for resistance against Hitler in Norway. A class in Whitwell, Tennessee did a research project about it and decided to collect 6 million paper clips, one for each of the Jews killed in WWII. Hear all about the project.

Way cool! I never heard of people using paper clips to show their defiance against Hitler. And I love the idea of collecting 6 million paper clips ; it’s so hard to visualized 6 million of anything, so you just can’t imagine what that means unless you see it.

You’ve given me some ideas for when we’re studying the Holocaust in January. Thanks!
